Master of Science in Epidemiology (MSc. Epi)

The Master of Science in Epidemiology program targets in-service health professionals such as physicians and health directors in charge of epidemiological surveillance with the main objective of addressing the incidence and prevalence of diseases with an epidemic potential such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, respiratory and diarrheic diseases.
This program is offered as an evening program and students must complete a minimum of 11 modules among them 8 theoretical modules and 3 practice based modules which allows field work practice for students. Students must also write a dissertation. Taught courses include: Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Advanced Research Methods, Evaluation of Health Situation and Priorities Interventions and Applied Epidemiology among others.
Admission Criteria
• Applicants should normally be graduates with a health or health-related degree; Biology, Biochemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry.
• One must have at least two years of experience in the health sector
• Being employed full-time in a senior or middle management position of Epidemiology service in a hospital or with any healthcare provider organization is an advantage.
• Proficiency in English
• Computer literate
• Candidates must successfully pass an entrance exam and interview by a selection committee.
